Ms. Sandy Terry is a Reading Specialist/Reader's Theater Director.

Reader's Theatre takes place on Battle Creek's stage. Student's learn to improve their reading skills and comprehension through class performances. A wide variety of acting strategies are used such as: warm ups, team work, speaking, fluency, expression, and body language.

Reader's theater provides reading enrichment to students through the use of a wide variety of scripts.  Picture books, nursery rhymes and Mother Goose tales for primary; folktales from around the world, picture books, fables and myths are used in the intermediate and upper grades.  Group "read alouds" focus on choral/oral fluency and expression.  Comprehension, vocabulary development and creative thinking skills are developed as students examine and portray what the characters and scenes should "look and sound like".  Older students are encouraged to adlib where appropriate.  All classes perform for other grades at the end of each rotation.
