Each year we walk around the pond in the fall to start the school year
and say hello to the pond and park in our own backyard. We walk again
in the spring to welcome all of the new life—the plants, insects, birds
and animals—back from their winter break.
This year the spring walk is also a fundraiser for our school—what
better way to raise money than to combine hiking in the outdoors and a
desire to help our environmental school. All (100%) of the money
raised will go toward our new PTO Grant Program.
This spring fundraiser is easy, exhilarating and fun! Students--all you need to do is ask your friends, neighbors and family to sponsor your walk around the pond. People can pledge as much as they feel comfortable—maybe $1.00, $5.00, $10.00, $25.00 or more!
Through the PTO Grant Program teachers, parents and students can apply for money to fund educational projects that benefit Battle Creek Environmental Magnet School. Priority is given to projects that are environmental, multi-use, non-consumable or not funded anywhere else. The amount awarded can be between $25.00 and $2,500.
There are just 5 easy steps for the spring fundraiser:
1. Ask your friends, family and neighbors that you know to pledge an amount that they will give you if you finish your walk around the pond (such as $1.00, $5.00, $10.00, $25.00 or more!)
2. On your pledge sheet—write down their name, phone number and how much they are pledging you. (You can collect the money, and mark them Paid, if they want to give it to you now).
3. Join your class for a spring walk around the pond.
4. Now, collect all of the money that people have pledged (cash or checks made out to Battle Creek PTO) and marked them Paid on your pledge sheet. (If you haven’t done it already).
5. Bring your pledge sheet and all of the money you have collected into your teacher by Wednesday, May 14.
