The Tree Trust worked with the Battle Creek Elementary School this year to organize a Green Team, which created a landscape plan for the school. The culmination activity was to develop outdoor learning areas for the school and on Tuesday 22, 2007, every student had a hand in planting trees and shrubs on the

school grounds.  The students interacted with the Tree Trust's "Our Town Trees" exhibit to learn about the value of natural areas in their community. This event was sponsored by the Medtronic Foundation.

There are also two new classes in the outdoor area. One will be a bird observation area where

tree benches and five bird feeders for the outdoor classrooms were added. The other is an area inside the courtyard under a pine tree where people can gather. Trees were also planted to provide a wind break on the west side of the school.

During the year Tree Trust Program Coordinator, Paul Wirzbicki
