Battle Creek Elementary Students Learn About HVAC with Help of ASHRAE Donation
The American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), a non-profit with a mission to serve humanity by advancing the arts and sciences of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration and their allied fields, has published two children's books that introduce children to building and HVAC engineering through the various outings of a curious young girl, Lucy.
This week, ASHRAE donated 80 copies of “Lucy Goes Green" to Battle Creek Elementary School, and read the book aloud to a Kindergarten class. The copies of the book will be distributed to all SPPS elementary schools - one book in every elementary library and one book in every elementary science lab. Last year, ASHRAE donated 80 copies of the book “Lucy's Engineering Adventure” to SPPS.
Battle Creek Elementary was the ideal site for the donation hand off and reading as the school has an E-STEAM focus.
